With an ATAR of 97.14 Jaime has done “better than expected,” and earned more than enough to secure a place at the University of Sydney to study her chosen subject, physiotherapy.
Jaime topped the list at Wingham High and was named one of only a few students on the Mid North Coast to achieve the top band in 10 or more HSC units and receive the All Round Achievers award.
Fellow Wingham High student Miranda Deal also scored highly with an ATAR of 95.35.
Both Jaime and Miranda were listed on the 2017 HSC Honour Roll alongside three other Wingham High School students with all five being named as distinguished achievers.
Alex Lednor, Sienna Hawkins and Tyler James Scanu all scored 90 or above in a specific subject.
The results are better than the last couple of years at Wingham High, according to careers advisor Shirley Clissold.
“Overall the school was really happy,” she said.
“They’ve done really well.”
The 2017 year 12 HSC results were officially released to students on Thursday, December 14 and the ATAR scores announced the following day.
For Jaime Hemmingway and her family the announcement has brought relief.
“We’re excited and relieved all the waiting is over,” said proud mum Heather.
Jaime said she chose the University of Sydney because it allowed her to continue with her hockey training.
As well as studying for her HSC in 2017, Jaime was also selected to play on the 2017 Hockey NSW Arrows Team.
