The meetings are to begin on Tuesday, November 14 from 4pm at the Gloucester Soldiers Club and due to the number of people who have registered to speak, will continue on Wednesday, November 15 from 9:30am.
On October 23, the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) provided the PAC with a final environment assessment report and a draft Notice of Refusal of Development Application, along with a letter recommending the project be rejected.
Due to the number of submissions the DPE received in relation to the proposed open cut coal mine in Gloucester, the final decision about the project is to be determined by an independent PAC committee.
Three committee members, Lynelle Briggs (chair), John Hann and Peter Williams will at the public meetings to listen to members of the community and community groups as they express their position about the mine proposal.
Each individual is allocated five minutes, while groups will be permitted 15 minutes to speak to the committee. The PAC has also allowed members of the community to submit written submissions about the matter.
Schedules for both days can be seen on the PAC’s website at www.pac.nsw.gov.au/projects/2017/10/rocky-hill-coal-project
