The group meets regularly to listen to guest speakers and for group outings.
Over the years we have had some of the best guest speakers – Rodney O’Regan on the history of the Light Horse, John Chadban on the history of the AA Company, David Freeman spoke about early churches in the Manning, First Fleet descendant Ross Murray on Scottish history, Rosemary Roberts on convict clothing, Malcolm Tompson on London in the late 1700s, and Meryl Bolin gave a speach on “What sort of person wrote these old letters”.
Our outings proved very successful last year with visits to several museums, two cruises, the Lake Innes Ruins Tour and picnic followed by a St Thomas church tour.
The Fellowship of the First Fleeters Mid North Coast Chapter covers an area from Bulahdelah to Kempsey and meets every two months. Our general meetings with a speaker are held in Taree. We have three guest speakers and three outings per year.
Our next meeting will be held at Taree Presbyterian Church Hall on Tuesday September 26 at 2pm. Our guest speaker will be Judy Donnelly and she will give a talk on historical Bungwahl and its evirons. The 10-minute speaker will be John Cowan.
Come along enjoy the speakers and afternoon tea to follow at a cost of $5 per person.
