The donation included support from the Rotary Club of Taree and Wingham Beef Week.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter regional marketing manager Chad Griffith said the service cannot run without the tireless work of volunteers.
“We’re doing 1,500 live saving missions a year throughout northern NSW.
“The Taree support group are fantastic advocates for the service- they’re promoting us down the street on any given day.
“For the community to give back a few dollars through bucket collections, barbecues, raffles or other programs that we run is amazing,” Mr Griffith said.
He outlined how it costs $4,000 an hour to run the helicopter.
“It’s substantial and this donation is going to impact on seven families,” he said.
Mr Griffith thanked the Taree group for their continued fundraising efforts.
“There are some really good people in the community who put their hand up- they don’t have to be asked, they just do it.
“We can’t do it without them,” Mr Griffith said.
The group welcome anymore people who are interested in volunteering.
