Mullet strips are the best bait while cranka crabs are the best soft plastic to use.
Some luderick have been taken on weed during the day on yabbie baits at night.
Flathead are still being caught up-river on bait and lures.
On the beaches tailor and salmon have been caught on pilchards and lures. The tailor are not very big – 35cm is a good catch. An occasional fish of 2 to 2.5kg has been caught near Diamond Head at night.
Some mulloway to 5kgs have been landed at the northern end of Crowdy beach.
Whiting have been bagged on worm baits from the southern end of beach at night.
Snapper are bring well from all the close in marks but the northern and southern grounds have produced bags of small to medium sized fish.
Mahi Mahi have been boated on live bait and lures near the Fish Aggregation Device (FAD) while mac tuna have been trolled.
Bar cod have been taken in 150 metres of water in the past week.
