This event attracts all 16 zones from across the State.
Zone 11 was drawn at Sylvania Bowling Club in a section that included Zone Eight, Zone 13 and Zone One. In the first game against Zone Eight the team got home by the slim margin of two shots and recorded a 9-1 win. Zone 13 were too good in the second game where Zone 11 only won the one rink and lost 1-9. In the third game three teams had a chance to progress to the semi-finals, and as it turned out all finished with two wins and a loss.
Zone 11 needed to defeat Zone One by the maximum 10-0 and have the result of the other game go their way to have chance. Unfortunately they could only manage an 8-2 win and Zone 13 advanced.
Meanwhile washed out pennant games from round three that were required to be played were determined with another two grades decided. Taree Leagues won the No 3s and Gloucester were successful in the No 4s. Sectional play offs for the No 6s and 7s will be on Saturday at Leagues. In the No 6s Railway play Wingham and in the No 7s Railway meet Harrington.
In No1 grade play off between Tuncurry Beach and Port City, Tuncurry were unable to produce the success of previous years, going down by six shots. Port City led for most of the game and opened up a lead of more than 20 shots at one stage and looked like they were cruising to victory. Then Tuncurry fought back to within four shots with two ends to play, but were unable to close the gap.
