Volunteering provides an opportunity to give back.
There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at Vinnies Shops in the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Maitland, Hunter, Port Stephens, Manning and Great Lakes regions.
Denise Lucas, executive officer of St Vincent de Paul Society Maitland/Newcastle is calling for men and women of all ages (15+) to help out in their local Vinnies shops.
“As a volunteer you willl gain experience in all areas of working in a retail environment, including visual merchandising, customer service, sorting and pricing donations, register operation, and working in a friendly and professional team environment,” Ms Lucas says.
“If you love vintage fashion, antiques and collectibles, you may like to donate some spare time to help Vinnies to raise funds to help people experiencing disadvantage.
“Last year the Maitland/Newcastle Central Council provided over $2.5 million worth of assistance to the local community, assisting more than 8000 people.”
