He will be giving two concerts in the MidCoast region (“My family’s home and place of inspiration for my music”) as part of the album launch as well as two concerts in Sydney, where he currently resides.
“The Tallowdale Chamber Orchestra and soloists, Ewan Foster (violin) and Samuel Dharma (piano), will perform music as heard on the recording plus The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams and piano music by Ravel,” said Jonothan.
“The album's title work, From Hidden Valleys to the Open Sea, evokes the beauty of the Manning Valley.
“It portrays a bird in flight as it descends from the heights of Barrington Tops to follow the river's winding paths and journey to meet the sea.
“This work was commissioned by the Manning Winter Festival and premiered at the Manning Regional Art Gallery in 2016.”
In keeping with the theme of flight, the concert series will also feature The Lark Ascending by English composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams.
“Well-known for its beautiful, soaring melodies, this piece has been an inspiration to me,” said Jonathan.
Concerts will be held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Gloucester, at 2pm on Saturday May 27 and at the Manning Entertainment Centre at 2pm on Sunday May 28.
There will be opportunity to purchase CDs and have them autographed.
Tickets are $12 for children, $15 for students, $26 for pensioners, $36 for seniors and $39 for adults.
