Rod Spicer has lived in the Manning Valley for many years and is well known for his beautiful paintings of the local area, from the bush to the coast.
Rod’s new exhibition, Out of the Blue, is a collection of works that capture the beauty and mood of Australia’s natural landscape through his use of bold colour and fluid brushstrokes.
Mandy Davis and Andy Snelgar are both well-established local artists who have exhibited their work both nationally and internationally and their upcoming show at the Gallery, Barraba Marray Nyaanyila, My Spirit Saw, will be the first time that they’ve exhibited their work together.
Mandy is a Biripi woman, with strong connections to Worimi Country, who has been painting country and family for over 25 years and Andy is a talented Ngemba carver who has been creating shields, mirru, boomerangs and clubs for over 25 years.
MidCoast Council’s acting art gallery director Rachel Piercy is excited to showcase these talented local artists at the gallery and encourages people in our community to come along and check out their work.
“We have so much local talent in our region and we love that we can share Rod Spicer, Mandy Davis and Andy Snelgar’s unique work with the whole community,” said Rachel.
Out of the Blue and Barraba Marray Nyaanyila, My Spirit Saw will officially open with an event from 6pm on Friday April 7 where you can expect nibbles, wine and a guided tour of the exhibitions. Entry to the opening is $10 or $7 for Friends of the Gallery (FOGs) members.
These exhibitions will run from next Thursday April 6 to Sunday May 14 and will be open during normal gallery hours from Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 1pm to 4pm.
