“Incredible” Summer Reading Party
We really enjoy hosting events that are linked to other cultural services within MidCoast council, and the annual Summer Reading Party, which is thrown by Taree Library, is one of our favourites.
“The Summer Reading Club is a national program that encourages young readers to read throughout the school holidays,” said community outreach librarian, Debbie Horgan.
“Last year we encouraged parents and their children to come along and register at the library and have a look at the fun and interactive Summer Reading Club website which featured games, competitions and guest appearances by Australian authors and illustrators, and underpins the Summer Reading Club program.”
The program culminates in a movie and pizza party at the Manning Entertainment Centre, and last Wednesday we had an enthusiastic crowd of young readers and their families who munched their way through a pile of pizzas, then watched the family favourite, The Incredibles.
Prizes were awarded to champion bookworms and the whole afternoon was a great success.
