Michael said the opening ceremony, including the flag presentation, was a highlight, along with the opening night river cruise.
“A participant said it was a wonderful way to start a convention,” Michael said.
Speakers included international director Eric Carter from Auckland, author Di Morrissey, State parliamentary Lions president Stephen Bromhead and exchange student Elinor Bowman. Attendees particularly enjoyed deputy director of Lions Eye Bank, Dr Con Petsoglou’s presentation on cataracts.
“It was relevant and very engaging,” Michael said.
The convention was hosted by the five Lions Club of the Manning Valley.
Manning River Lions Club presented on its successful Camp Memories event, which runs again this year on November 11,12 and 13. Taree Lions Club spoke on new Manning food festival TasteFest (January 14, 2017).
