Entrants have been going up for the past three years of the annual competition.
This year’s competition is judged by Bruce Moy, Margaret George and Kim Weller.
Victoria Lee, Sam Hamilton, Hayley Brood and Ashley Harry are the entrants.
The four girls attended their interviews at the Taree Showground this week.
The judges remarked they were impressed by each of the girl’s strong community and career ambitions.
“They are all very goal-orientated and education focused,” Bruce said.
“This focus on education, is so important for the future of agriculture.”
The judges also commented the entrants were very aware of what was happening in regards to the news and political questions.
This Saturday the girls will meet with the area’s State and federal politicians, local dignitaries and show society members at the showgirl luncheon.
The winner will be sashed at the grand parade at 1pm.
Judge and former Taree and Sydney Showgirl finalist Kim Weller said the competition gave her a large network of connections in the agricultural industry.
“I’m still in contact with a lot of the girls,” Kim said, who is an agricultural teacher.
“We all came from different parts of the agricultural industry.
“I came from beef, and others came from cotton and so on.
“What we didn't know we could teach each other. The competition therefore gave me an overall better understanding of the industry.
“I can still connect with a lot of the girls, no matter how many years it has been.”
Taree Showgirl for 2015 Laura Polson said each of the girl’s approached their interview with diligence and maturity.
“I was so impressed by each of the entrant’s enthusiasm for the competition,” Laura said.
“It’s not easy putting your hand up and I am delighted we have four entrants this year.
“They are all excellent ambassadors for our community.”
Laura said in the past three years the competition has been growing in popularity.
“I’m proud to see the competition growing,” she said.
“My year as showgirl, has improved so many aspects of my character. I’ve connected with the community and developed my speaking and event management skills.”
The winner of the 2016 Taree Showgirl competition will progress to zone level in 2017 at Coffs Harbour.
If she is successful she will compete in Sydney at the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
