The eighteen-year-old attends Wingham High School where she is the team captain of the Agricultural Show Team.
Hayley’s experience and success in the role, saw her chosen to break in a special steer for the school earlier this year.
The steer was donated in memory of maths teacher Ed Manganaro, who was killed in a tragic accident at his Wherrol Flat home.
The steer did well at show, and proceeds of the sale of the steer at auction prior to its carcass being judged went to Ed’s wife Lynette and daughter Imogen.
In the community, Hayley is a part of the Wingham Beef Week committee. Hayley also assists in running the annual Rotary Young in Agriculture (RYAG) dairy camp.
In the show circuit, Hayley not only shows cattle, but she is rising up the ranks as a young judge.
At the Wingham Show in 2015 Hayley was crowned champion junior judge and this year she returned to the show as an associate judge.
Hayley is currently completing her HSC. She is studying physics, chemistry, primary industries, agriculture and english.
Her career aspiration is to be an agricultural teacher, as she would like to, ‘bring in the next generation of youth into the agricultural community’. Hayley has completed work experience at a number of local farms and said she enjoys ‘being apart of the agricultural community and being able to be connected to a large number of farmers in the area’.
