Spring is a great time to enjoy the colour and fragrance of the garden and with the added bonus of delicious food, entertainment, a few stalls and more.
George’s six-acre country garden is the perfect setting to host this event, given its size and quirky nature and features include the Oriental Garden, the Islamic Inspired Pool Garden, the Potager, the Cottage Garden and the Woodland Walk.
Winchelsea Gardens has been featured on Better Homes and Gardens TV show and in their magazine, Burkes Backyard and Our Gardens magazine.
Refreshments will be served throughout the day and visitors are welcome to spend the full day or just a few hours.
Although High Tea is traditionally served late in the afternoon, by holding the event between 11am to 4pm George said it gives everyone the opportunity to wander the gardens at leisure, enjoy the entertainment and a bottomless cup of tea or coffee, ribbon sandwiches, scones and tasty delights.
Attractions on the day include lucky door prizes; fundraising raffle; quilt display by Pelican Pieces Patchwork and Quilting Group from Harrington; an exhibition of artworks by the Killabakh Art Group and several stalls including antiques and bric-a-brac.
Visitors are encouraged to dress up for the occasion with a prize for best hat!
All day entertainment includes ‘The Mad Hatters’, Wingham Pipes and Drums, Garry Spicer, George Hoad and more.
Proceeds from the day will be supporting Anglican Care Auxiliary, Manning.
The role of the Auxiliary is to raise awareness, funds and support for aged care and Anglican Care facilities in the Manning. These include Storm Village in Taree, Bishop Tyrell Place in Cundletown and over 40 home care clients.
“The Auxiliary is marking its first year of operation and what better way to celebrate than hosting a garden party”, commented George, who is also the inaugural auxiliary president.
