Police were called to a Frances Street address at about 10.20pm on Friday September 9, following reports of a domestic dispute.
When police arrived at the location, the man locked himself in the premises and refused to allow officers entry.
Police subsequently gained entry by the backdoor, but were confronted by a man wielding a knife in each hand, who charged at them.
The officer retreated out the back door as other police gained entry through the front door, with a taser deployed on the occupant.
The man was arrested and charged with using a weapon to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with the final charge in relation to the initial domestic incident.
No police were injured in the arrest.
