FRNSW deputy captain Anthony Shoesmith said it took around 40 minutes for the crew to put out the fire.
The deputy captain said the vehicle’s driver has parked the car outside the seniors village around 40 minutes before the fire occurred.
He described the driver, who is understood to be a Taree Gardens resident, as “very upset”.
A spokesperson for Manning Great Lakes Local Area Police said investigations are continuing as to if the fire was deliberately lit.
The spokesperson said it was unusual for a car fire to occur so close to a residential area.
