There were 22 exhibitors with tables set up displaying a range of pamphlets, information and items in relation to their specialist area as it relates to men's health.
Guest speakers included Stephen Bromhead who gave a good rundown on health issues in this electorate, particularly the incidence of dementia. Dr Parmar, from Old Bar Medical Centre, gave a talk on diabetes, providing the latest information on causes and treatments and management of the condition.
Many other exhibitors spoke briefly about their own service but Bev McCulloch of Healing Heart Yoga went a step further and had everyone on their feet engaged in a short session involving a few yoga movements and breathing exercises. Despite widespread publicity on radio, television, the print media and posters around town, attendance by the public was well down on what was expected and hoped for. Exhibitors, however, were still pleased with the event and will no doubt support it again in future years.
Sand replenishment group
After a lot of effort over a number of years, good results have been obtained this year with the sand traps and the dune fencing. Old Bar Beach Sand Replenishment Group intends to pursue the nourishment of Old Bar Beach with the return of sand from Farquhar Inlet.
The group is seeking membership renewals. Contact president Elaine Pearce, on 6553 3404 or 0407 229 145.
