Last year Sunrise on Manning, a satellite of the Rotary Club of Taree-on-Manning, fenced the playground.
Now the group is calling on the community to give design input for an eye-catching shade structure.
A competition is being proposed for design of the structure and retired local architect, Charlie Rose, will act as a consultant and judge.
A community meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at McDonalds, Taree North at 7.30am to discuss the concept.
Young people are encouraged to attend as this represents a great opportunity for their input in the community.
"The canvas is blank and so your ideas, sketches and pictures are most welcome," said Donna Ballard of Sunrise on the Manning.
"Practicality, as a sun smart structure, as well as its aesthetic value in enhancing the appeal of our riverbank, will certainly be significant matters for consideration in deciding the ultimate design and structure for our kids to further enjoy their playground right throughout the year."
Driven by the members of Sunrise on the Manning, finances to build the structure are being gathered with considerable in-kind donations of materials from the many generous businesses of the Manning Valley.
