Shortly before 10.30am (Sunday March 13), police and emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, Bulahdelah, following reports of a crash.
NSW Ambulance Paramedics assisted the 82-year-old male driver of the Hyundai; however, he died at the scene.
The 27-year-old female driver of the BMW was treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial inquiries indicate a BMW X3 has collided with a Hyundai i20 as it attempted to make a right hand turn into the Lakes Way from the northbound lanes of the Highway.
Police from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended, while officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries.
Investigations are continuing.
