Wingham openers Josh Davis and Wayne Smoothy saw off the first 15 overs whilst adding 37 in ones and twos on the sodden ground. At that point Smoothy was bowled for 17 by Tom Kelly. Davis fell in the next over on 20 when Ameen held a sharp return catch.
Kelly claimed his second wicket when he bowled Ryan Morris (11) with an off cutter and his third when Brock Hynes got an edge for Dean Mills to juggle, then hold the catch, at slip. Hynes made six, which was six more than Jake Mullen who failed to pick a slow ball from Kelly, only to sky his first delivery back to the bowler.
Wingham skipper Matt Essery negotiated the hat-trick ball and he and Robbie Hynes were together when the thunderstorm struck. Essery has managed to make 12 and Hynes four and they will continue next Saturday.
Kelly was the standout performer for Taree West and has 4/20 from eight overs, whilst Ameen took 1/12 on a good wicket.
