After winning three classes at the dirt track championships at Gunnedah back in June Richards was again in dynamic form over the two days of great racing, spiced with spills and some controversy as penalties were imposed on several riders for starting line infringements.
Richards headed another Singleton rider Marty McNamara and Jarryd Oram of Kempsey in the final of the pro open class after Troy Bayliss fell on the last corner while battling with Richards.
The pro 250 class was Richards' second win, this time ahead of Michael Kirkness and Jarryd Oram again.
Richards completed his hat-trick of victories taking the pro open class, ahead of Brody Nowlan and Troy Bayliss.
The only blemish for Richards came in the pro 450 final when he finished fifth after the result was declared after Bayliss crashed while attempting to get up to second place.
It was a Queensland 1-2 with Robbie Menzies-Sargant the new champion ahead of Jarred Brook, with McNamara and Kirkness next.
South Australian Ty Lynch added the under 19 title to his previous win at the dirt track titles as Brook was denied the overall win because of a start penalty. Sam Lachlan was third.
Dirt track sidecar standouts Adam and Graham Liebke from Queensland continued their domination, this time beating veteran Gunnedah rider Daryl Woodhead with passenger Shaun Fuller, Joel Askew and passenger Scott Gillard and local club member Scott Boyd and passenger Shane Van Ginnekin.
The closest result of the meeting was the women's open class with Kurri teenager Keegan Pickering scoring a narrow win in the last round to edge out defending champion Briony Hendrickson of Queensland on a countback with Coffs Harbour rider Amy Wedd third.
Beside Richards the only dual winner on the weekend was Hunter ATV rider Matthew Griffiths who won both the pro and open classes.
Following him home were Daniel Craig and Robert Booth (pro) and Mel Brandle and Daniel Craig (open).
There were several support classes on the program with Kempsey rider Michael Booth cleaning up the over 35s class ahead of Anthony Dall and Jason Morris.
The next generation of stars were on show in three junior classes with Hayden Nelson, son the club president Craig, winning the seven to under 10s from Jacob Roulstone and Lincoln Von Mengersen, another local Jack Hyde dominated the nine to under 13s from Oliver Bayliss and Andrew Jordan, while Brisbane rider Max Whale edged out Kempsey duo James Chapman and Sam Davies in the 13 to under 16s.
