2BOB Radio 104.7FM celebrates 29 years of broadcasting to the Manning Valley from the studios in Taree Park on Friday, August 28 with a Radiothon!
From its beginning 2BOB has always been volunteer powered and listener supported and the Radiothon is a fun way for listeners to win great prizes by supporting their local community radio station.
This year funds raised will go towards helping 2BOB go solar to help minimise the large costs of running the station and transmitter. Solar power has only recently become viable for 2BOB with the help of Greater Taree City Council's donations program assisting the completion of repair work to the roof of 2BOB's studios.
Listeners are encouraged to listen to their favourite shows and ring in pledges to win great prizes including heaps of CDs, gift vouchers, meals at some of the best local eateries, holiday getaways and many more including the major prize, to be announced next week.
The Radiothon will begin on Friday morning with The Breakfast Show which will begin three days of rejigged programming to provide listeners with a weeks' worth of shows piled into one weekend.
2BOB's albums of the week
The Stalk Her soundtrack has to be one of those guilty pleasure albums that comes along every now and then that will have your foot tapping.
It kicks off with Nick Cave's Red Right Hand and great tracks keep coming from the likes of Skyhooks (Horror Movie), Split Enz (I See Red) and The Go Betweens (Karen). The Sarah Blasko track My Man is lovely and even lead man John Jarratt gets on board with two tracks!
