This month's feature producers are Les Mulder and Annette Owen-Mulder from The Edible Forest at Wherrol Flat.
Les and Annette have been on their 140 acre property for about three years, and in that short time have transformed its hard packed soils into a diversely productive landscape.
Using permaculture, regenerative agriculture and holistic management principles, Les and Annette have cattle, chooks, pigs, vegetables and a heritage fruit orchard.
Les says they are "incredibly passionate about making the best tasting and healthiest food in the land." Annette adds that she takes pride in "being able to name the provenance of everything on the property."
You can tell.
Market regulars will be familiar with Annette's soup, available at markets throughout the colder months. It is often the best soup you have ever tasted.
Their passion has spilled over into supporting local produce in the community, and they are proud members of Wherrol Flat and Caparra Landcare, Wingham Farmers' Markets volunteers, and have been instrumental in establishing the new weekly farmers' market at Rudi's in Taree.
Currently they sell surplus veggies as well as preserves and apple cider vinegar (including the famous caramelised variety), and the soup, through the community stall at the Wingham Farmers' Market. Annette often has tasters of new inventions she's trialling, so make sure you come and say hi because they are always delicious!
Annette credits the vigour of their veggies to using worm castings from Island in the Stream Vermiculture, also available at the markets.
They are currently building up their market garden, and so hope in the future to have enough produce to have their own stall at the markets.
Just like Les and Annette, you can also sell home grown pesticide-free produce through the community stall at the Wingham Farmers' Market. Simply drop it in that morning at the stall or call Manning Landcare to make arrangements.
The markets are at Wingham Showgrounds this Saturday between 8am and noon. Annette's soup will be pumpkin and sweet potato, with all home grown ingredients. Remember your cup for a discount!
New stallholders are always welcome, with site fees waived at your first market. Direct stall holder enquiries to Annette on 6550 7213.
