It’s no secret that we’re best known for collecting rates, maintaining roads and disposing of rubbish, but we challenge you to take a closer look at what’s on offer, as we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Silence is no longer golden in the modern library and our Manning Valley Libraries are no different, in fact, they are a hive of activity.
Pop in and enjoy a multitude of free services including computer access, Wi-Fi and unlimited access to Zinio, an app for your smartphone or tablet featuring every magazine you can think of, and then some.
Need something to keep the little ones entertained? We have you covered with a range of free programs including Giggle, Wriggle, Read, Pre-School Storytime and our popular school holiday programs.
Our friendly library staff also look out for the elderly and those with disabilities with our home library service, delivering books, DVDs and magazines straight to homes and aged care facilities.
If you use a motorised wheelchair, there’s no need to worry about running out of power while you’re out and about, as My Chargepoint offers a number of charging stations throughout Taree and Wingham that you can use at no cost.
Don’t forget to take advantage of our Manning Regional Art Gallery that currently features fabulous exhibitions like Locals Only II, a celebration of surf culture, and the captivating woodturning and carving work by Phil Bourke.
We also operate the Visitor Information Centre, so if you have visitors coming to town, pop in and have a chat with our staff or grab some maps and brochures to ensure you enjoy the best the Manning has to offer.
If you’re looking to get back to nature, take a trip to our award-winning Cattai Wetlands which is open from 8am-3pm, Friday to Monday. If you call us, we are also happy to arrange guided tours where you can discover over 170 bird species, including the resident black swans.
Do you sometimes forget which coloured bin goes out on which week? By down downloading our free Waste Info app, you’ll have handy access to your waste collection calendar where you can even set an alarm to remind you.
We also have good news for green thumbs as our Bucketts Way Landfill is now offering residents processed green waste free of charge if you you’re happy to load it yourself.
We normally charge a small fee for loading, but if you make an appointment during Local Government Week, we will load it for free on the weekend of August 8-9.
See we’re much more that rates, roads and rubbish. There’s also free access to our website at www.gtcc.nsw.gov.au, where you can find out much more about the things we do.
