Under 12s
The team consisted of Samantha Chicken (captain), Ellie Mcleay (vice captain), Katelyn Page, Ashlee Smith, Zara Lyons, Jazmin Campbell, Lara Slade, Madison Eakin and Chanel Leifting.
Day one started with a baptism of fire playing the eventual winners, Mount Druitt in the opening game. They had some really good games and the combinations developed. On day two Taree defeated the strong fifth and nine place holders. But despite strong efforts they couldn't secure another win.
Day three was a long hard struggle but the players gave 100 per cent each game. Some important lessons were learnt over the three days.
Under 13s
Taree had to fight hard for their runners up place in the 13s division three. The side was 10th out of 19 teams at the end of day omne but movedf to fourth by the end of day two. Eighteen games over three days came down to six goals on for and against to claim the runner up prize, proving that every goal does count.
After a slow start on day one with the girls having their only three losses by one goal each on this day, they went on to finish the day with three losses and three wins to sit in 10th position.
The start of day two saw the girls take on the overall division winners Muswellbrook and come away with a well-deserved 12-12 draw. In that game coach Rebecca Chicken finally saw some combinations start to gel on the court, and State Age was finally starting to take shape the way she had hoped. Taree went on to win five of their seven games as well as another draw to jump from 10th to fourth going into day three with a further five games to play.
The biggest challenge was the first up game against a very big and physical Queanbeyan side who were second on the ladder. The girls played their best game knowing it was a must win game if they were to better their ranking. Taree led by three goals but knew Queanbeyan would be strong in the second half. To Taree's credit, they played smarter netball, which saw them finish with a one goal win.
The win kept the girls in good stead for the remainder of their games where they went on to win all four.
The girls' reaction was priceless when they were announced runners up by 0.31 per cent or six goals.
This was the perfect accolade to acknowledge the girls achievements and to round out six months of hard work, training and carnivals.
The 13s team consisted of Charlotte Hogan and Emily Rainger (co-captains), Annabelle Perkins, Lylah-Belle Wilson, Emma James, Faith Saunders, Georgia Lane, Hope Extrem, Kiara Hollis, Laura Watman and Molly Reid. Vanessa Hogan was the manager.
Next year the team will progress to division two of the State Age to be held in Bankstown.
Under 14s
In three days of competition Taree under 14s played a total of 18 games with 17 wins and just one loss. This impressive result saw the team crowned under 14 State Age division four champions. The team played ith a great deal of maturity and commitment to the ball and combined well. Some impressive rebounding and intercepts from Hunter Willet, Lillian Smith and Kirsten Moscatt restricted the opposition scoring. Just 153 goals were scored against them.
Solid performances from mid court players Paris Sharpe, Mia Lyons, Thalia Simons, Georgina Stephens and Logan Towers saw the ball move down the court fluently, and the patience of these players to feed the ball into the circle is to be commended.
Ebony Bridges, Kirsten Moscatt and Karlee Latham approached the task of shooting with confidence with all three maintaining impressive shooting statistic. Ebony Bridges finishing one game with perfect results of 100 per cent accuracy.
Coach Mandy Moscatt and team manager Jessikah Bridges were extremely proud of the girls and the results they achieved.
