THE Manning Valley will celebrate Asian culture, when the Asia Manning Festival is opened at 6pm on Sunday at the Manning Regional Art Gallery.
This cornerstone opening event will be a 'gala night' featuring entertainment and asian cuisine.
Opening the gala night and current exhibition 'CHINA INDIA: Imaginings and Transformations' will be visiting Chinese/Australian exhibiting artist, Fan Dongwang.
Entertainment on the night includes Tibetan Mountain Folk Singer, Lhamo Dolma and Filipino dancers.
This is a ticketed event, with the $25 tickets available to purchase at the gallery.
This night will mark the start of a week long program of vibrant and interactive events featuring Asian art, food, music and dance.
The Manning Valley community is invited to enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of Asian culture with art workshops, meditation, yoga, films, dance and an Asian Food Fair finale.
Many events are free to attend such as film screenings, kid's art workshops and cooking demonstrations.
Artist, Fan Dongwang will lead a calligraphy workshop from 10am to 1pm on Monday June 1 and Fan will also lead a kids dragon drawing workshop on the gallery's deck from 10am to noon on Tuesday June 2.
On Sunday June 7, the festival concludes with an Asian Food Fair in the grounds of the gallery, along with market stalls, kid's activities, Bollywood dancing and a Martial Arts demonstrations. The day starts at 10am, entry is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
The project is a partnership between the Manning Regional Art Gallery and Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services Inc., with funding from the Australian Government Regional Arts Fund.
"It's a follow on from the sucessful African and Indian events held in previous years," general coordinator of the Asia Manning Festival Steven Williams said.
"The committee has assembled an exciting program that brings together local and visiting talents to celebrate the richness and diversity of Asia.
"Join us at the gallery for a session, a day, or the entire week!"
