COMPETITION for members of the Wingham Rifle Club was from the 600 yard range, and despite variable winds and haze across the targets, there was some very good scores achieved on the weekend.

Phil Costa had two outstanding rounds and was the best competitor on the day. Among others Jim Blackmore had a strong second round, Max Purnell had a very good first round, and Tony Galati fired an excellent second round.
Jim Blackmore took out A-grade with a second round of 50.4 for a total of 97.8.
Max Purnell won B-grade with a first round of 50.4 for a total of 99.9, Brian Mavin followed with 95.7, Doc Keith Gleeson 89.2 and Gordon Higgins scored 78.
F-class A was won by Phil Costa with two terrific rounds, first he fired 58.2 then followed up with 59.5 for a total of 117.7, next came Tony Galati with a total of 114.7, Mike Rogerson 109.5 and Chris Barnard 99.1.
F-class B was won by junior Todd Barnard who was able to read the conditions and scored 111.3, and right on his tail was another junior Ronan Moon who fired 110.3, and visitor Dave Horton on his first shoot with a very good effort managed 107.1.
