The highlight of her performances was achieving second place in the 16 Years and Under Championship. Caitlyn was the only Manning representative in a hotly contested field with all other contestants hailing from Newcastle. Each competitor was required to sing two songs consecutively, the first having to be a song from the Baroque or Classical period. The second had to be from the Romantic or Contemporary Classical period. Caitlyn sang 'Where'er You Walk' by Handel and Fruhlingsglaube (Faith in Spring) by Schubert with the latter sung in German.
First place was awarded in the 'Pop' section where she sang a beautiful rendition of Eva Cassidy's arrangement of 'Over the Rainbow'. Her other second placing was for the 'Vocal Solo' section singing 'Where the Bee Sucks'. Performing 'For a Child' in the 'Song by an Australian Composer' section she gained third place as she also did in the 'Song in Costume' section when she sang 'Green Finch and Linnet Bird' from the musical 'Sweeney Todd'.
Congratulations Caitlyn on an outstanding effort. All that singing in the shower really has paid off!!
