Well, organisers want to see the money.
The function will be held at Club Taree on Saturday July 11 starting at 6.30.
It'll cost $20 for the night and the organising committee, led by Wayne Bridge, need some numbers for catering arrangements pronto. There's further information on the Chatham Cundle Reunion Facebook page.
Chatham Cundle was a powerhouse in the former Taree and District Junior Rugby League. It's understood the club was formed in 1964. Another club, Chatham Stars, played in the foundation days of junior league in Taree.
Some noteable Chatham Cundle products include Australian Schoolboys representative David Boyd, who later played first grade with Canterbury and Newcastle; Terry McCartney, a centre/winger for Canterbury; Gary Bridge, who represented both Country and City and played more than 100 first grade games for Balmain and another Australian Schoolboy, David Burnes, who made first grade appearances with Cronulla. Front rower Brett Shore played first grade with the Newcastle Knights in the club's early years. Danny Buderus played some of his early football with CC before the club merged in an era consolidation of the game at junior level in the Manning.
Chatham Cundle players made up the bulk of Chatham High School's winning University Shield teams of 1980/81. This included Boyd, Burnes, Shore and Tony Dawson, who later played minor grades with the Illawarra Steelers.
A side captained by Gary Bridge and coached by Barry Hammond was among the most successful in the club's history, remaining unbeaten from under eights in 1969 to under 15s in 1976. The under eight grand final victory in 69 was determined in extra time, where, according to the match report in the Manning River Times 'Gary Bridge, the crew-cut halfback from Chatham Cundle showed football know-how beyond his years, guiding his team to a 9-6 win over Gloucester. Ripper Wright, among Chatham's stars, opened the scoring.''
The report noted that Chatham's strength lay in their all-round performance opposed to Goucester, 'which relied heavily on runs by Trevor Dorney and Stephen Mullen to make breaks.'
The reunion is for anyone who turned out in the black and white jumper or was in any way associated with the club.
