Are you all ready for the Easter Bunny to visit your place this year? I hope you've been good little people and he comes and leaves you lots of Easter Eggs on Saturday night but don't eat them all at once, will you?
If you are travelling over the Easter break please be wary of those drivers who don't always think before they act on the road. Allow plenty of time to get wherever you are going and have a very happy Easter then return safely home.
School report
THURSDAY, April 2 is the last day of Term 1. It is hoped the pupils all have a wonderful Easter break and return to school in good health so they can enjoy next term's planned activities.
We have a full day on Wednesday as we have to fit in the cross country trials before the break along with the annual Easter Egg hunt and Easter Hat Parade.
The cross country trials will be held at 9 am whilst the pupils are still fresh from sleep and a good breakfast and not on a chocolate high.
At 10.15 am, when they have had time to renew their energy after their run, the Easter Hat Parade will be held.
I guarantee that as per usual there are some cute and curious hats on display.
This will be followed by the Easter egg hunt and parents are most welcome to come along to observe these events.
It would be appreciated if those parents attending could bring along something wonderful in the line of a plate of goodies to be shared at the recess break after the parade and hunt.
I am sure the pupils would love any support parents can give them during the cross country run, too, but 9 am may be slightly early for some parents to be in attendance especially if they have younger siblings to care for or may have to work and most children accept that quite readily, thank heavens, but we hope to see as many parents as possible at all events.
Of course we will utilise any who do come as race stewards if needed so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather of the day, won't you?
Congratulations to the six pupils who have reached their bronze awards this term.
They are Megan Watkins, Alisha Watkins, Cailen Brown, William Bell, Sophie Watkins and Elizabeth Archinal.
Well done!
It seems to take a long time to amass all those good points, doesn't it but it is worth it when you are given that award.
I noticed that Wattle class had the most recipients this time so come on Cedar and catch them up next term.
Speaking of next term the students are lucky enough to have qualified coaches from the PCYC come along to give them instructions in gymnastics on Fridays.
The program will be subsidised by the P & C but being such a small school they cannot bear the whole cost.
There will be a cost of $2 per session per child which means parents will need to pay $20 for the proposed 10 sessions but it is well worth it to allow them to experience another wonderful physical activity and who knows - we may have a budding Olympic gymnast at the school.
Stranger things have happened!
Payment will be due by Friday, May 22 at the end of the sessions.
On a not so pleasant note, according to the latest newsletter the pupils will resume school on Tuesday, April 21 from their break but they should have managed to recuperate from the cross country run and, having devoured their Easter egg haul from the various activities of that weekend, used up their sugar and chocolate overload and be ready to settle back down to school work again by then.
The teachers will be hoping so, anyway.
April birthdays this week
FIRST cab off the rank (literally) is Jason Borserio. He is followed by Chloeanne Mills, Jade Ford, ex-shop owner Eric Wilks, "Tiny" Bakewell and Natalie Stringer. Have wonderful times on your special days each of you.
I hope you have a very healthy and happy year before we wish you well again next year.
A sincere "thank you"
NIGEL and Sonya wish to thank all those who made donations and/or bought raffle tickets and plants at the markets on Saturday. Your generosity is much appreciated.
First prize in the raffle, a grass tree, was won by Alex who was working on the new stall near the front of the hall.
Wendy Jones won the second prize which was a fern tree and Mark French took out third prize which was a small cactus garden.
It is hoped they all enjoy their winnings for years to come.
Reserve Trust news
THE next meeting of the Hope Andrews Reserve Trust at the end of this month will be the AGM which was postponed due to the loss of two of our trustees. Once again it will be held at 1576 Nowendoc Road.
School of Arts reminder
DON'T forget to come along on Saturday, April 18 and support the hall's efforts to add to the coffers of the Anzac Centennary celebrations later in the year.
The organisers did get a grant for the celebrations but the more we can raise towards the event the better it will be and we want to do our heroes proud when we remember them with the wonderful activities that are being planned by the organisers.
