He would regularly drive past her high school in Darwin.
One day a friend of Judy's decided she wanted Reg to take her to the dance.
Judy was assigned to be messenger of the question, although when she asked Reg, he replied "I'd rather take you!".
The pair married once Judy completed high school and 61 years later they are still happily married.
The Allans married in Darwin in 1954, they moved to Queensland in 1961 and in 1957 they moved to Wingham, later residing in Taree.
The decision to come to the Manning Valley was spurred by Reg having family in the area.
This move began a long commitment for both Judy and Reg of working and volunteering in the area.
Reg had a long career at Manning Valley Motors until its closure. Judy worked at Taree West Public School as ancillary staff for 25 and a half years.
Their sons had played football in the area, prompting Judy to become heavily involved with the Red Rovers. She is a life member and was previously treasurer and registrar in the Taree district.
Judy and Reg have four sons Gary, Ron, David and Kevin. They have eight grandchildren Jade, Kate, Trudy, Brianna, Zoe, Beau, Jasmin and Joshua, and 16 great-grandchildren.
A highlight of their marriage was travelling around Australia from 1980 to 1982.
They enjoyed going back to their hometown of Darwin, where they stayed for six months.
"It was lovely to get back to Darwin and see old school friends," said Judy.
The Allans celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Sailo's in Taree, where their son Ron had organised a party with the surprise appearance of sons David and Kevin.
Judy and Reg had a great time being surrounded by family and friends on their special day.
