Mrs Williams informed the meeting that she had made representations to the minister for education and minister for crown lands and that "both are members of the National Party, so I know them very well."
Mrs Williams urged the community to bear in mind that "there are a number of different departments involved, including Treasury, as they have ultimate control over the assets in this State."
Mrs Williams said her purpose was "to listen to the community views about how they would like to see the land and buildings used in the future."
"I don't have a view either way at this point in time. My job is to represent the views of the community," Mrs Williams said.
"Whilst I am here to listen to what the community has to say about this piece of land and the infrastructure that currently sits on it, I also at the same time have got many representations from the community over the last four years about other things they want improved.
"So I guess my view is that the community needs to think about what they see as their priorities, some examples are the upgrade of the toilets at Crowdy Head Surf Club, the upgrade of Crowdy Head road, the improvements to the local foreshore, there has also been suggestions that there should be an ambulance station in Harrington.
"There are competing priorities in every community. It would be wonderful if we had a never-ending bucket of money and we could fulfil all of their requests but that is not how it works.
"If the department and the minister for crown lands make the decision to sell the land, and it is also a decision for Treasury as well, then I would certainly be making the point to them unequivocally that any proceeds from the sale, a substantial amount of that I would want to see invested back into this community for their benefit."
