Maurie Stack of the Rotary Club of Taree on Manning will again bake "his world famous lemonade scones" and man the coffee machine from 9am as part of a Rotary initiative to try to encourage Manning Valley residents to discover and use the foreshore.
"There's nothing nicer than to wake on a Sunday morning and walk our beautiful river foreshore from the old swimming pool site to the Bicentennial Gardens," Maurie said.
"The walk is easy and we would love to see more people enjoy this beautiful area. It's one of the best views in the Manning Valley and we want more people to enjoy it."
Greater Taree City Council has given Rotary the green light on its proposal to set up a marquee on the foreshore once a month for six months to trial the concept of trying to attract more people to the area by offering homebaked goods and tea and coffee.
Maurie says Rotary is hoping it will be the catalyst for a community-driven push to see a "stylish, uniform-looking market that will become a real asset to Taree."
"The intention is to not take business from local cafes that open on a Sunday, this is more about getting people to come to the foreshore.
"People can get their coffee elsewhere and bring it here, we just want to draw people to this beautiful area," he added.
