WINGHAM celebrates 150 years of continuous public education this weekend with a massive program of events.
On Friday, the "Sesqui" kicks off with a Tabloid Sports Day in Central Park.
Students from a Wingham Public and Wingham Brush Schools will enjoy a day of educational games and activities.
Staff will be ably assisted by students from a Wingham High School who will be gaining some practical experience as part of their studies in Sports Coaching.
Friday night is about winding down and catching up.
Former students and staff from Wingham are invited to head to the Australian Hotel, where three bands will be playing the songs from your school years.
Wingham Public School is the first to welcome the community inside at 10am on Saturday.
Current students will perform, and there are displays in the school hall and Library.
Support the Wingham Primary School P&C by enjoying Devonshire tea under the trees for a gold coin donation.
At midday, former students and staff of Wingham District School are invited to be part of a special photo shoot as part of the Sesquicentenary celebration. Photos will be taken near the Admin block at Wingham Brush Public School.
Following the photo shoot, Wingham Brush School will be open for inspection, with students performing, classrooms open and a sausage sizzle lunch for a gold coin donation.
Rediscover Wingham Brush on a free Sesqui Rainforest Ramble. Tours leave the Enviro Centre at the Brush end of the school at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Walks are around 45 minutes in duration and are suitable for everyone.
Enclosed footwear is required, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
On Saturday night, celebrate in style at the official reception at Wingham Services Club. Some tickets may still be available by calling in at the Club.
Sesqui winds up on Sunday morning when Wingham High School is open for inspection, with interactive displays, tours, a petting zoo, live entertainment, exhibitions and your choice of gold coin barbecue breakfast or barista-made coffee with scones, jam and cream.
Remember to leave some time to explore the special education exhibits at the Manning Valley Historical Society Museum in Farquhar Street, and at Wingham Services Club Hibiscus Room.
Both exhibits are open across the weekend.
