Ms Thomas, a local horticulturist and floral designer, collaborated with another horticulturist, Bettina Gollnow, to produce the 200-page book.
Their book is being launched Wednesday, Spetember 10 at 10am at Taree TAFE. Jim Frazier, award winning Australian inventor, naturalist and cinematographer, will be a guest of honour at the event.
"This is a great opportunity to celebrate a unique achievement with one of our very talented locals Delwyn Thomas," Lyn Connors, community relations officer at TAFE, said.
"We would really love to invite anyone from our community who has an interest in flowers to come along to see this amazing book and meet Del."
The book has been printed on plastic waterproof paper so it can be used easily in the damp conditions typical to the floristry workplace and training environment. This innovation is a first.
According to a review in the online Floraculture International, the book "packs the latest information about the exciting and diverse range of floristry products available …some of it never before published."
The magazine goes on to report that every entry has beautiful full colour photos, "many of which were taken specifically for this book" and that the index "ensures speedy access and enjoyable readability for all."
For details of the launch, contact Lyn Connors at North Coast TAFE's Taree and Great Lakes campus, phone 6591 3620.
