Because it's set to be a wet and wild winter Wednesday across the region.
Heavy rainfall is forecast for the Mid North Coast, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting a developing east coast low set to intensify with potential rainfall totals between 50 to 70mm and the possibility of heavier local falls of up to 100mm.
A clearing trend is expected to develop tomorrow however there remains a high level of uncertainty with forecasting conditions for later in the week.
The expected heavy downpour brings with it a timely reminder about the perils of floodwater.
The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is warning residents about the dangers of driving through flood waters and the need for children to stay away from swollen rivers, creeks and stormwater drains.
Acting NSW SES Mid North Coast Region Controller Tony Day had a clear message on how to keep safe during the expected deluge.
"Our key message to the community is to closely monitor the situation and to never enter flood water," he said.
"During the February 2013 floods a total of 42 flood rescues were conducted across the Mid North Coast.
"People driving through flood water risk not only their own lives but also the lives of their passengers and volunteer emergency rescue personnel."
The heavy rain is also likely to result in large seas and swells developing together with strong winds in coastal areas.
Information on how residents can prepare for severe weather can be obtained by visiting the NSW SES website www.ses.nsw. gov.au
