The third placed Tigers lacked enthusiasm when upset by Port City last weekend. The loss leaves them just one clear of Port Sharks - a side that now has four successive wins.
However, Baker isn't too concerned about last week's effort, or lack thereof.
"It was just one of those days,'' he said.
"We're not cutting our wrists.
"You blokes in the media are more worried about it than us. We've been training hard this week and we'll be keen for Sunday. If you can't get keen for a game like this you never will.''
Baker points out the Tigers are basically a young side. But he is confident they'll lift for the challenge on Sunday.
"I thought right from the start these blokes (the Sharks) would be one of the better sides, so this will be a good test for us,'' he added.
Baker will check a couple of players for niggling injuries but expects the side to be much the same as last weekend.
Prop Ben Welsh is understood to be close to returning from facial injuries. Lock Matt Bartlett, who travels from Newcastle each week to play, while also juggling work commitments, is expected to be right.
