Manning River and Forster-Tuncurry lead the way on 21 points, clear of third placed Wallamba on 15.
Myall Coast on eight and Gloucester on five look set to fight out for fourth place with Old Bar seemingly out of the running.
The Ratz and the Dolphins have both lost one game each. Gloucester defeated Forster in the opening round of the season while Forster prevailed against the Ratz in the first round clash.
The teams meet for a second time this season when rugby resumes after a general bye.
Forster and the Ratz clashed in last year's grand final and a repeat wouldn't surprise this season.
Old Bar has struggled to be competitive in the club's comeback year. The Clams have been hammered in all matches expect Gloucester when they went down 17-7. They've only scored 22 points and conceded 278.
However, captain-coach Chad Lambert remain optimistic the Clams will trouble the other sides come the third round, pointing out a number of his players are new to the code.
Meanwhile Mid North Coast Rugby Union will hold a luncheon at the Tallwoods Golf Club on Friday from 1pm.
Special guest is former Australian Wallaby, NSW Waratah and former chairman of the Rugby Union Players Association, Tony Dempsey.
Master of ceremonies will be Mark Cashman, editor of Inside Rugby magazine, a Fox Sports rugby commentator and convening judge for the Inside Rugby Invincibles.
Tomorrow there will be a MNCRU golf day hitting off at 10.30am followed by viewing of the Wallabies and France test match at 3pm in the clubhouse. There'll be a further function that night.
