Some early injuries changed the shape of Wingham's structure but did not hamper them as they have learnt to adapt with changes. Port FC were gifted a penalty shot and this gave them the confidence to play a more direct attacking game to their speedy strikers.
Set plays once again left Wingham wanting as they allowed a free header to sail in unopposed to give Port a 2-0 advantage. Wingham did create some good goal scoring opportunities only to be thwarted by some brilliant saves from the Port keeper, who kept Wingham an arm's distance away the entire game. All was not lost as some interesting stats were taken away from the game which now might ram home the information that has been falling on deaf ears over the past four weeks.
In respect to the Wingham players, if we could say giddy up to Lady Luck a few results would be different. Hopefully the shots that are hitting far post, the cross bar and bouncing out will start to fall our way and rattle the back of the net rather than the coach's back teeth.
Port FC won 4-2.
Reserve grade have turned the corner and are playing good structured play that at times look like they are a team that have been playing together for years. It was a very pleasing form change.
