All the boys played outstanding footy, with Kyle Buddle, Liam Andrews, Cooper Walker and Lincoln Cuthbertson steering the cubs around the park with great enthusiasm.
Braith Tubnor, Logan Holden and Izayah Hughes made good metres out wide. Mason Lattimore, James Swierczynski and Tye Yarnold doing the same straight up the middle to put the Tigers in great scoring positions.
Both teams went try for try for most of the game, with some excellent skilled footy being played. Well done to Izayah Hughes in his first game of footy.
Kyle Buddle received the player of the match for the Tigers. All the boys backed it up with the inclusion of Hayden Turner for another two games on Sunday for WTJRFC gala day. All the boys played great footy again in front of a large crowd.
Wingham under eights took on a strong Red Rovers side. Both teams started off well showing off some great football.
Aiden Lewis put the first points on the board with a great individual try. Rovers hit back not long after with a try in the corner to level the score . It wasn't long until the Tigers started to dominate with some great defence by Reuben Ruttley, Jett Gilbert and William Hansen. The boys started to throw the ball around and Jack Baker found a gap and snuck through for a great try. Not long after Rovers jumped on a loose ball and were on the attack, the young Tigers defended well but a dive over from dummy half saw the Rovers hit back. The Tigers hit straight back with Tyson Hall and Jack Baker scoring great tries. To finish the game off, some great foot work by Lleyton Moore saw him race away for a great try. Player of the match went to Reuben Ruttley.
WJRLFC Junior Gala Day
WHAT a fantastic turn out for the Wingham Junior Rugby League's gala day at Wingham Sporting Complex.
A total of 311 kids attended the day with north and south teams having at least one to two teams from each age group participating.
From 9am there was non-stop rugby league action with 20 minute games scheduled every 30 minutes. It was a fast past schedule and this meant for a busy but fun day.
Thank you to all the coaches, managers, water runners, first aid staff, parents, canteen volunteers and everyone else who helped out on the day.
