FRIDAY May 9, saw an appreciable crowd gather for the Wingham Junior Cricket presentation at Wingham Memorial Services Club. MC, Matthew Essery, did an excellent job running the proceedings to wind up what was a very fun and successful year for the junior part of the club. One of the highlights of the evening was the attendance of life members Pat Pearson, Sue Thomas, Gary Essery, Barry Smith, Trevor Bell, Bob Staff and John Delaney, and many commented just how many of the junior players turned up for the night. Matthew thanked the committee for their hard work and also the sponsors and parents for their support. He then presented the awards:

The Perpetual Club Trophies then recognised the best in the whole club. The prestigious Coach of the Year award went to John Delaney who coached the under 12 side to premiership glory, while the Ken French Trophy for Club Person of the Year went to a well-deserved Matthew Essery. The Wingham Memorial Services Club Player of the Year went to young Hayden Essery who co-captained the under 12’s and represented the club at regional and state level, while the Thomas Family trophy club player representing leadership, dedication to others and always trying their best went to Mitch Niven and Ryan Morris. The Wingham Junior Cricket Club would like to thank all those who were involved in the club this year and are looking forward to next season already.
