THE sun may have been shining but the seas were wild and woolly thanks to cyclonic conditions off Australia's east coast.
This meant no members ventured out to sea for the April 12/13 outing which had been brought forward a week due to Easter falling on the normal outing date.
Four members went fishing in the river section but only two, Liz Bedford and Harold Ryan came home with four fish to weigh in.
Liz managed one flathead but was beaten by Harold with his three flathead and a whiting.
The biggest of Harold's flathead weighed a nice 1.040 kgs and as a result he received the club's newest sponsors, Wingham Boat and Tackle, voucher for his efforts.
Representing Wingham Boat and Tackle, Kylie Bell was asked to draw the club voucher winner and this was won by Steve McGann – nice little pick up for the Easter break.
Twenty-six members attended the barbecue/weigh-in held Sunday afternoon at Wingham Rifle Club to enjoy good food and fellowship.
Many happy returns to weigh master Les Rose who celebrated another birthday on April 11 and was presented with a birthday cake complete with candles (but it was too small to hold them all).
The next outing of the WSBWFC will be held May 17/18 with the June outing set down for 21/22nd when all are hoping the weather conditions will be a lot better.
