Rod Fisher, show president, values the Australian Agricultural Show tradition but likes to try new things. This will be the fifth year of goat racing at Comboyne Show.
"The event seems to have captured people's imagination. Major sponsor for the goat racing, Sundial Dental at Wauchope and Port Macquarie, are so enthusiastic that owner, Dr Peter Elfar and staff, including ladies, have participated, and been individual race winners in both 2012/13 years."
"The Politicians Race" includes local, state and federal government members and is always popular and entertaining. The 'Radio Station $500 Charity Challenge Race' runs around 11.30am.
2MC's Mark Strachan won last year and is again very keen. In the 'Calcutta' held before each race the winner receives 80 per cent of the pool.
The championship dog show is expecting over 200 dogs, and there is a high standard of exhibits in all sections from poultry to produce, cooking to craft, fabulous flowers, art and photography. Hastings Co-op is the major sponsor of the pavilions and a huge hamper raffle.
There will be great rides for the kids, and Wauchope Youth Theatre Group's musical Duo. Food includes Comboyne's famous country cooking, devonshire teas, barbecue and bar.
Organisers say there will be something for all the family to enjoy.
Entry is just $5 for adults and under 16s are free. Also there is free parking available.
Saturday March 15, 9am to 5pm at Comboyne Showground.
