Storytime is a popular program held in all library branches each week.
Debbie Horgan, community outreach librarian, believes Storytime is a great place to meet other families and make friends while sharing the joy of books and reading with your children.
"When families come to Storytime each week the children get to know each other and look forward to experiencing the stories and activities together," Debbie said.
The 2014 Storytime program starts at Wingham Library on Monday, February 3 at 11am; Taree and Harrington Libraries on Thursday, February 6 at 10.30am and Hallidays Point Library on Friday, February 7 at 10.30am.
Everyone is welcome to attend and parents and carers are encouraged to participate in the activities.
'Wriggle Giggle Read' is a program for parents and carers and their babies which focuses on the development of early literacy skills through books, rhymes, movement and music. It will be held from 10.30am to 11.30am on the first Monday of the month at Taree Library, starting on February 3, and there will be weekly sessions every Wednesday at Hallidays Point Library from 10.30 to 11.30am, starting on Wednesday, January 29.
"Children's programs at the library focus on providing positive literacy experiences for young children and their carers," Debbie said. "These experiences are important for the development of children's literacy skills and they are fun!
"It's wonderful to see the delight in the faces of children as they listen to a story at Storytime, and then to have the chance to talk about it with them while they are doing a craft activity - to share their joy," she concluded.
