FOUR of the best horse riders from Manning Valley Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) will be heading down to compete in the Sydney Royal Easter Show on Thursday, after achieving the fastest riding times in a state-wide competition.

Vicki Harris, Tara Copp, Ryan McNeil and Patrick Bulbert achieved outstanding results in the mounted games, held at each RDA centre throughout NSW.
The games involved bending, flags, bale racing and key hole events.
Coaches Jeff Patterson and Maureen Turner will accompany the young riders and will also take their place in the main ring, riding the horses to demonstrate their fine condition.
Jeff said this is the first time they have taken part in the Royal Easter Show and they are all very excited.
“It is an incredible result to have four of our riders invited to the Royal Easter Show, particularly considering that we are a small country club in comparison to the Sydney and Gosford clubs,” Jeff said.
Training for the event has involved an extra session scheduled every week up until the event.
Two of the centre’s horses will also make the journey and be presented in the ‘Best of Show’ category, which examines the condition, beauty and temperament of each horse.
Manning Valley’s Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is calling for interested community members to join the organisation, after they were unable to fill allotted positions at their annual general meeting recently.
In a bid to make it easier for people to attend, meetings will now be held at night.
The next meeting will be Tuesday May 1 at 7.30pm.
“We desperately need people to come and help run the centre. It is a great time to come on board as we have new infrastructure and many great plans for the future of the centre,” Maureen said.
