MVACTG CEO Jenny Hadfield and board chairman Peter Smith were present to accept the car. Harrington resident June Redman initiated the project to purchase the community car and participated in the presentation.
The fundraising raffle was drawn at the same time with fifteen donated prizes being allocated. The profit of $2811 from the raffle along with $10,000 from MVACTG went directly towards the purchase of the car.
Donations were also received from Harrington Bowling Club ($500), Harrington Bowling Club Snooker Club ($100), Lions NSW/ACT Public Health Care Foundation ($5000) and Harrington Lions Club ($5000).
The car is garaged in Harrington and will be driven by volunteer drivers from the MVACTG.
It is used primarily for Harrington and area jobs but may be used elsewhere when it is not required in Harrington.
The Lions Club thanks June Redman for her efforts in coordinating the fundraising for the car and also the residents of the Harrington area for supporting the raffle.
