
Hunter New England Health is reporting a total of 1983 new COVID-19 cases diagnosed to 8pm last night, 100 of which are located in the MidCoast local government area.
Hunter New England Population Health public health physician, David Durrheim said of the 10,138* total active cases, 35 are receiving care in our hospitals and two are in ICU.
"Sadly, a man in his 70s from the Newcastle area died at John Hunter Hospital," Dr Durrheim said.
"He was a resident of the Kilpatrick Court aged care facility in Toronto, where he acquired his infection. He had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had serious underlying medical conditions.
"We urge anyone who is yet to receive their vaccination to do so and if eligible book in for a booster or walk in today to vaccination hubs across the district.

- 245 from Maitland
- 138 from Port Stephens
- 120 from Cessnock
- 100 from Mid Coast
- 43 from Singleton
- 24 from Muswellbrook
- 21 from Tamworth Regional
- 19 from Upper Hunter
- 17 from Armidale
- 11 from Moree Plains
- 10 are from Narrabri
- 8 from Dungog
- 8 from Inverell;
- 3 from Gunnedah
- 2 from Liverpool Plains
- 1 from Glen Innes
- 1 from Gwydir
- 1 from Uralla
- 1 from Walcha
