Manning-Great Lakes Police District has shared its concern on Facebook about the fake news.
Police are aware of the fake post being shared widely and want to reassure the community that investigations have confirmed there is no evidence that an incident such as this has occurred in the area, the local police district posted.
Police are concerned that sharing this fake post may be causing unnecessary distress within the community.
"Families are urged to talk with their children about safe people and safe places."
