This shouldn't come as a shock, with Australian meteorologists declaring last week that a La Nina weather event is underway.
NSW has been experiencing wet weather particularly throughout November, with Taree experiencing a total of 20 days of rainfall in the month.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) this was the country's wettest spring in 10 years and it will continue through summer.
It is the opposite to the El Nino-Southern Oscillation pattern that typically brings increased temperatures and bushfire danger to Australia.
So, according to the BOM, while we're unlikely to see a repeat of the 2019-20 summer bushfires, there will instead be a greater risk of damaging tropical cyclones and flooding.
A number of locations across NSW and Queensland in November also smashed monthly rainfall record, with Bathurst experiencing its wettest month ever.
