The RSL asked all Australians to 'Remember to Remember' - to commit to pausing for one minute to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country, those who returned home injured or ill, and those who bravely serve our country today.
Taree RSL Sub-branch president, Charlie Fisher, said the day is very important to keep the memory of those who have served before us alive, so younger generations can continue on their legacy.
"If we don't teach our young ones what happened in this country they will never know," Mr Fisher said.
"The peace we enjoy today is because of the death of many people."
Taree RSL Sub-branch vice president Darcy Elbourne, empahsised the importance of the ceremony in remembering those who may not have someone thinking about them now.
"It is about remembering all of those who have served," Mr Elbourne said.
